Official Participant List Announced - Here are the runners of the 2025 Ultra Gobi 400km
The 2025 Ultra Gobi 400km will bring together 59 runners from 14 countries across five continents. Among them are five “Dream Entry” runners, four “Great General” returnees from the pioneering 2014 test race, and 50 global entry athletes.
In line with Ultra Gobi’s mission to preserve the Silk Road heritage and create a truly global race, entry slots are allocated proportionally by continent. Due to global circumstances, some regional slots have been reassigned for 2025. The final line-up includes 36 runners from Asia (originally 30), 7 from Europe (originally 5), 4 from the Americas (originally 7), 2 from Africa (originally 7), and 1 from Oceania (originally 1).
A bib number for life
A unique tradition at Ultra Gobi makes each athlete’s participation even more special. Every starting number is assigned only once in the history of the race. Returning runners keep their personal number for life, while first-time participants receive a new number that will always belong to them. This year’s newly issued numbers range from 234 to 275 – a lasting mark of achievement that will stay with each runner throughout their sporting journey.
Gobi Dreamers
“Once in a Lifetime”: The Gobi Dreamer Program was introduced for the first time in 2025 to welcome runners whose dedication and determination embody the spirit of Ultra Gobi. Selected through a rigorous application and voting process, five athletes earned their place in the race to fulfill their dream.
