Registration Opens for Ultra Gobi A, B and C Events 2026
Registration for the Ultra Gobi A, B and C categories of the 2026 Ultra Gobi Series is now officially open. The events will take place from September 27 to October 4, 2026, bringing together business school teams and individual participants for the 21st edition of Ultra Gobi in the Gobi Desert of Northwest China.
The A, B and C categories offer different ways to experience the route along the historic Xuanzang Road, with participants covering sections of the desert landscape over several days.
Event schedule highlights
Participants will arrive between September 27 and September 30, followed by registration, race briefings and the opening ceremony. The Experience Day on October 1 allows runners and trekkers to enter the desert together before the competitive stages begin. The main stages of the event will take place from October 2 to October 4, concluding with the awards ceremony on the final day.
Three ways to take part
The Ultra Gobi A, B and C categories are designed to accommodate different levels of experience and objectives.
Ultra Gobi A is the original 121 km team stage race, completed over four days by teams of six to ten members.
Ultra Gobi B follows the same route and distance as a 121 km solo endurance experience, allowing participants to move at their own pace across the four stages.
Ultra Gobi C is a one-day desert challenge of 17 km or 29 km, designed as an accessible entry point for participants who want to experience the Gobi landscape in a shorter format.
Participation in these categories is open to currently enrolled business school students. International teams and participants are welcome to apply.
Since its launch in 2006, Ultra Gobi has become one of the most recognized endurance events among business schools in China, bringing together students from leading universities to share a unique desert experience that combines teamwork, endurance and cultural exploration.
